Flowering Time: J F M A M J J A S O N D. Brevis, short; gluma, husk. One or both glumes are short with respect to the length of the spikelet. Leaf-blade surface scabrous

Requirement: Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle linear, 20–40 cm long, 2–4 cm wide. Usually occurring on skeletal soils in drier areas of central to mid-western Victoria (e.g., Inglewood, St Arnaud) with outlying occurrences near Bacchus Marsh west of Melbourne.
